Betrayal

I recently had an intuitive healing and the theme of “betrayal” popped up as a consistent experience in my life.

Betrayal: to fail or desert, especially in time of need.

There are many definitions attached to the word betray with this one being the one that most resonates with me. Both in actions that I have been on the receiving end, as well as my failure towards others.

A surprise layoff, a friend scheming to take my job, infidelity, not being invited to a girls’ trip, bank accounts drained, and a breakup while grieving the loss of a family member. These are all the forms of betrayal that I experienced, although, I am not entirely innocent. There are things that I have done in times of weakness, fear, “having no choice” or sometimes out of necessity, that can be shame-inducing. Giving in to peer pressure, infidelity, a surprise layoff…

How do you process it? That gut-wrenching feeling when you realize that someone let you down or the guilt attached to knowing that you hurt someone.

Do you decide to put up a wall and never trust again? Or do you rise above it? Or do you forgive? Ask for forgiveness? Forgive yourself?

All questions I am asking myself, as I figure out how to move forward and leave the past in the past.

Until next time,

❤️ Olivia
