Life Goes On

The pain of a breakup can be excruciating, especially when you realize that life around you continues to unfold while you feel utterly destroyed. It's as if time itself has betrayed you, moving forward relentlessly while you're stuck in a place of heartache and disbelief. Each passing day becomes a silent reminder of the void left by the absence of that person who once felt like an integral part of your world. Meanwhile, the world carries on with its rhythms—the sun rises and sets, people laugh, and seasons change—yet everything feels distorted and distant through the lens of heartbreak. The weight of loss can make simple tasks feel overwhelming, and the mere thought of moving forward seems impossible.
After getting through the pain of my divorce, I could not fathom going through those feelings again so soon. Of course, you can’t compare fourteen years of marriage to a six-month relationship, but in a small way, it is almost worse. I had gradually disengaged from my husband, with each incident of disappointment chipping away at the hope and love that had forged that union. With Josh, I had permitted myself to drop my guard. I should have known better than to expect a “happily ever after” from a rebound relationship, but I chose to ignore my instincts. I needed that experience. The euphoria that comes with the bliss of choosing ignorance which made the vision of his betrayal that much more shocking. Now, here we are and life goes on.
Until next time,
❤️
