Life Is Short

I received a message from Dean this week. For those of you catching up, Dean is the cutie I hung out with in Costa Rica. We had some friendly banter as he filled me in on his life and work. I asked him how Matt was doing and if he knew anything about why he ghosted Charlie. I was shocked by his response:
“Matt was diagnosed with a terminal illness. He is still processing the news and has not communicated with anyone about it.“
Matt is only thirty-five years old. He is a kind, smart, good-looking guy with a promising future. I only knew him for a short time, but the news hit me hard. I can’t imagine how Charlie will take it. When something like this happens, you can’t help but take inventory of your own life. If tomorrow never comes, would I have lived my best life?
Perspective can be life’s biggest wake-up call. It encourages us to prioritize relationships over
things, experiences over accumulation, and moments over monotony. In a world where families and friends are tearing each other apart on social media, it is important to remember that life is short and to appreciate the fleeting beauty of every sunrise and sunset, knowing that each day is a gift to be unwrapped and cherished.
Until next time,
❤️ Olivia
