“Hey girl, need some help?” he said as he got off his bike. “Maybe” I said, trying to figure out how to get myself out of the sagebrush. I had forgotten how attractive he was. I could not help but stare at him. Those broad shoulders, muscular arms…. His hair was shorter but still long enough to hang over his eyes, as he looked at me with concern and the slightest smirk forming on his lips. He pulled me up with such strength that I fell into his chest. He smelled great. A mixture of deodorant and sweat. Why did I like that so much? What was wrong with me?! “Thank you” I said, looking straight into his deep blue eyes. He reached down to pull pieces of sagebrush out of my hair. I could swear that he was about to kiss me.
“OLIVIA! Oh my God, are you ok????” Phoebe screamed as she ran towards us. “Oh, hi Josh, nice to see you.” She turned to me with big eyes, knowing that I must be dying.
Phoebe was with me the night that we first met. Eva was in town, and we had all gone to the Saddleback Saloon. Josh was at the end of the bar. We flirted with our eyes for what seemed like hours before he walked down to talk to me. I thought that something might become of it, but since then he only sent random texts and never asked me out.

“So, Josh, are you going to Summit Sensation?” Summit Sensation was Phoebe’s favorite event in Mountain Town. It was a beautiful night when the town came to life. Each restaurant hosted a dinner with their own long tables down the center of the main street. Imagine a huge outdoor wedding reception with a sit-down dinner that spanned an entire block.
“You should come with us! “We are still deciding which restaurant to go with this year,” said Phoebe. Ever the matchmaker, she was not going to miss this opportunity.
“Yeah, that sounds cool. I hadn’t decided yet either. I would like that “he said as he turned to look at me.
“Great! Olivia can let you know where we land so that you can get your tickets.”
“Let me look at your bike.” He said as he checked out the wheels, looked at the brakes and hopped on it to make sure everything was clicking properly. “Seems ok. You should be good. You ladies need any help getting down? I need to meet a friend at the bottom, but I can text him to let him know I will be late. "
“We will be fine. Thank you so much Josh. I really appreciate it.”
“Any time” he said and then jumped on his bike. One last glance backwards “talk to you soon” he said and then he was off.
“OH MY GOD, you must be DYING! He is such a cutie patooty! You guys are going to get married. I feel it in my bones. I can see it now, you will ride up together in the funicular, get married on the deck at the St. Regis. We can have a girls spa weekend for your bachelorette party! “ Phoebe is a hopeless romantic who loves love and can’t help herself from getting caught up in the moment.
I must admit that I was getting a little caught up too. What a day!
Until next time,
❤️ Olivia
